This is a game of skill. The object of the Hawthorne's Holiday Thoroughbred Survivor Contest is to select one (1) horse that will officially finish first, second or third in a race of the entrant's choice from each of the 21 contest days of the 2012 Hawthorne Race Course Holiday Thoroughbred racing meet. For this contest, official race results will serve as the order of finish.
The deadline to make each daily selection is 30 minutes prior to the scheduled 1st post. Entrants who correctly select a horse to finish "In the Money" (first, second, or third) are eligible to select a horse for the following race day and continue in the contest. Entrants who fail to correctly select a horse to finish In the Money or fail to make a selection before the deadline of any race day are eliminated from the contest.
In the event an entrant's selection is a late scratch or declared a non-starter for pari-mutuel wagering purposes, the entrant will receive the actual betting favorite in that respective race.
In the event the entrant selects a horse that is part of a coupled entry or mutuel field, only the individual selection is allowed in the Hawthorne's Thoroughbred Survivor Contest. Therefore, the selected horse must finish first, second or third for the entrant to remain eligible in the contest.
In the event that there are only 4 horses in the field, this will be declared a non-contest race.
