During August, Hawthorne is partnering with Bernie’s Book Bank to collect books for Chicagoland families. Book ownership empowers children and transforms lives! But 61% of low-income families have no books for children at home. Bernie’s Book Bank has provided over 24 MILLION books to Chicagoland children who each receive 8 books annually from birth through 6th grade.
Donate a children’s book (gently used or new for kids younger than junior high school) at Hawthorne Race Course or ANY Club Hawthorne Betting Bar for a chance to win a weekly $100 bet during August. Drawings on Sundays after Hawthorne’s 5th race.
Donations accepted throughout the month at all locations. Weekly raffle winner need not be present to win.
