Emily's Analysis

Santa Anita Race 3

Post Time 3:36 PM CST
Analysis by Emily Gullikson

#1 STRANGE ADDICTION has a longshot look in this spot as they should be cycling back to a top effort and that top effort recorded back on 12/13 fits on par. They looked to be given the race chasing WIDE NO_PUSH on 1/4 and off that race moved up in the speed figure department two weeks ago to project another move forward here with the changes in class, surface and distance.

Santa Anita Race 8

Analysis by Emily Gullikson

#4 PAARL showed run after missing the break (VSLOG) on debut and with TROUBLE+ in running putting in a CLOSE X_FLOW and overall EX - EXCUSE. That race was followed up with a conditioning type route on 12/28 and off that PREP can move up with today's SHORTER distance.

#5 MARULA made a positive PRERACE+ appearance on debut and showed run making  MOVE and GALLOP and held number with the second start and route distance last month. Number wise those figures standout in this field, though must transfer to the grass should this race stay on the turf.

As far as #1 ENTRESSA they expect to get a lot of attention with the assigned ML and has shown speed and could be the real deal. They worked from the gate on 2/2 breaking SLOG (something she also showed on 1/26 and should be of consideration on value with the rail draw0 inside of graded stakes sprinter Anarchist one that was in hand throughout and would not say ENTRESSA "won" the drill as the two were not working together and had different intention on the day. #2 COMEBACK GIRL has shown speed in her works and physically suiting to turf sprinting.

Santa Anita Race 9

Analysis by Emily Gullikson

#3 MIO BANDINO turned in a pair of BTL efforts at the level back on 9/8 at DMR and again 12/8 at LRC. The more recent of the two; the December show finish earned after a SLOG/TROUBLE_S made a WIDE MOVE and CLOSE. They were given fitness at the route distance last month and moves up with the change back to ONE_TURN.

Turfway Race 5

Analysis by Emily Gullikson

#5 FREE ADVICE turned in a sneaky good TROUBLE+ filled effort in their second start and projecting to IMPROVE did just that with the competitive B-/BTL on 1/4. That effort was followed up with the EX - EXCUSE they show up from off 1/18 to present upside here.

#11 TOTAL GAS earned a follow off their debut closing out 2024 showing run/CLOSE after a SLOG/TROUBLE_S something that is tougher to see with the running line and finishing position to IMPROVE off of.
