#3 CLOSING APPEAL returns from the layoff while giving up recency landing at the right level for their abilities. Going back to last season, they were overmatched in MSW company and with the change was BTL on 9/07 while willing to give a pass for the WIDE that followed at the MOC level in Oct noting the layoff that followed as well as some placement intent entered and scr from a MOC event in November.

#6 GOLDEN TEST appears well intended returning in this spot off the layoff. They broke their maiden for today's claiming tag, presenting some excuses for the efforts at the higher level and upgraded last season back in for $25k (open) in November responding with an improved B- effort.

If #5 ESSEX SERPENT takes pace pressure from #3 MAAKAWA the race could play against that favorite and assist from off the pace. While the default attention in that case could land on #2 EVER DANGEROUS, #1 ROSCAR fits as well if not even more dangerous with their late kick (bigger Square) and form from last season while also turning in a solid race off the layoff. That effort and figure coming not only first off the layoff but first of their sophomore season and showed progression following - something that could continue here in the 4yo campaign.
