Emily's Analysis

Hawthorne Race 1

Analysis by Emily Gullikson

#1 DESIRED LUCK looks tough though she is a two year-old against the older outside of a qualifier for the first time.

In terms of the trio coming back from the 9/9 event; #6 MAGGIE AT BAT is upgraded with a BTL effort, a subtle trip in traffic early making a move against the dynamic that had her behind the other two rivals though visually the one to follow from that race. #7 RED CLOVER is preferred over #4 ROCKIN FAYE one that benefit from a ground saving trip and race flow for place.

#8 ICE DANCE fits at this level and on this circuit. She turned in a competitive effort forced to move early chasing the eventual 3-5 winner, Val Victorian, and just got caught late for show.

Hawthorne Race 2

Analysis by Emily Gullikson

#6 AUGUSTA SATIN was not match for a dominant La Rosa on 9/5, though showed a lot of run in a less than ideal trip bottled up in traffic, lacked room, making a move and projects to improve off that 4th place run. Rival #5 IRIDESCENT REMI finishing second though had a much more favorable trip of the two.

#3 CLASSIC COLUMBIAN is one to follow. She is taking on older today though looking for the right level and should move up on this circuit. Going back to the HOO 9/5 race, she wanted to show more early speed and was on hold before taken very wide and not asked to race – she has more to show overall and in terms of positional speed.

Hawthorne Race 3

Analysis by Emily Gullikson

#7 FOX VALLEY PATRIOT sits as a solid favorite in this race he fits at this level off a strong closing run against a higher class on 9/10 and was competitive on the day whereas the other runners from that race returning here were overmatched.

#2 MAJOR HARLEY will take a slight step up from a competitive effort in a competitive race for the level on 9/9 – he shares come common running lines with #1 FOX VALLEY PRESLEY finding class relief and a driver change as they make their second start of the meet looking to return to form. #5 FOX VALLEY TREASON exits that same 9/9 common race, not as competitive as MAJOR HARLEY (or #6 SUNMASTER with the favorable trip to finish second and the driver change creates some reservations on intent today) on the day though should move up off that race and would be intent with the driver change.

Hawthorne Race 4

Analysis by Emily Gullikson

#4 RAGS TO RICHES was not given the trip (ground loss combined with traffic) to race on 9/10 and placement as well had her overmatched in this current form cycle. She projects to move up today with that fitness and class change.

#5 COLD ROAD SODA fits at this level with the qualifier behind Desired Luck (R1) and the class change finding softer company exiting the Oak Grove meet.

#7 BABE’S IMAGE will give up some recency as she makes the circuit change for this race. She fits at this level and coming back from a more competitive race on 8/31 than it appears on paper – the trip had her taken back to save ground early and that loss of position resulted in ground loss in the later half mile finishing with a sneaky close down the center of the track in a blanket for the deeper minors. #6 ROCKIN SAGE also presents some upside with the change in class and circuit, another that did not have the most ideal trip for her run style as she needs to be put into the race earlier to compete than she was on 9/5 at HOO.

Hawthorne Race 5

Analysis by Emily Gullikson

A group return from a similar conditioned race here on 9/9: #3 FOX VALLEY NEWPORT leads off the group staying on after setting the pace to hold place caught by an improving runner in Beach Cowboy making a late run to catch him going away. #6 RESERVED PARKING was favored in the 9/9 common race and boxed in lacking room not asked for his best late – they return with a driver change to Rogers and figures intent from the trip and place finish together on 8/30. #9 PLAYTOROCK has a wide draw once again and that translated to a extra-wide trip on 9/9 and a competitive race all things consider. #4 IMPERIAL HANOVER has shown improvement race-to-race still requires more compared to the others and similar for #10 SPORTSMADNESS taken back early to save ground and not showing much on the day though given a start should benefit from recency still prefer the others to these two.

Casey Leonard departs Reserved Parking and picks up a live runner in #7 CCCULATER given a prep in the qualifier and offers upside from his races here at Hawthorne last year competitive numbers and class as a juvenile.

Longshot #2 DUALLY TRUCK earned a follow from the visuals showing sneaky run at DuQ on 8/28 and behind some solid juvenile runners this year.

Hawthorne Race 6

Analysis by Emily Gullikson

#6 KEY INGREDIANT is upgraded with the driver change back to Casey Leonard and off the sneaky good BTL effort with all types of adversity in the trip showing a ton of run and “B” effort for the level.

Hawthorne Race 7

Analysis by Emily Gullikson

#6 LEGAL LIAR looks logical in this spot and projected to hold the role as the favorite. #7 FOX VALLEY MCKEE given the race on 9/9 finds a softer spot and reunites with Juan Franco projects to show more today.

Hawthorne Race 8

Analysis by Emily Gullikson

Staring with the 9/9 common race: #7 DUNE DAME projects to improve and with the subtle trip and less than ideal tactic when in a favorable position early lacked room and not asked late – a trip/ride that compromised her chances for a better finish on the day.

#1 TONCREDBLYFASTFORU comes off a competitive effort short as the favorite on 9/9 compromised by a wide trip and lack of recency on the day. #2 ADMIT finished second though just enough to hold that position after racing lone on the lead and lacking finish. She expects to take pace pressure if looking for a similar front end trip with #4 KIZZZMELIKEUMISSME shipping and returning to HAW as well as #6 GO WITH FLO in the field. Others are preferred from the 9/9 common race over #8 DRIVIN THE DIXIE though one that could get into the mix as a longshot in this race.

Some new faces: #3 CASTIELLE could be overlooked and projects to move up in this spot and much needed class relief. #9 FOX VALLEY CHA CHA also finds the class relief in this third start of the cycle and should move up at this level. The class relief is also in favor for #5 FOUND MY ROCK given the experience over the course with Avenatti last week and fits off her Oak Grove form.

Hawthorne Race 9

Analysis by Emily Gullikson

#4 BEACH COWBOY one that has shown improvement and steps up off a strong maiden win. #2 PRINCE OF STYLE was not far off BEACH COWBOY on 8/29 and given an excuse with the trip and tactic on 9/9 - he should be under the radar wheeling right back under similar conditions. His stablemate #5 KOA has recorded some stronger efforts this season and also not given his best in a different race on 9/9 taken back early and perhaps given a “prep” on the day as a driver change is made for this race.

There did not appear to be much intent for #7 M I ROCKIN on 9/7 at HOO dismissed off the 8-1 ML and taken off the pace with minimal ask. His competitive races here last season were run here at HAW under similar class conditions to today’s race sharing common races with KOA.

#4 DUM LUK MOOSS also wheels back from the 9/9 common race with PRINCE OF STYLE and from a competitive race all around with others from that event running earlier on the card worth following to upgrade/downgrade.

Hawthorne Race 10

Analysis by Emily Gullikson

#8 BOMBAY PARKWAY given the push coming off a competitive win looking to pair up at the level from the 9/9 finale. #3 ASHLEE’S LIL ANGEL returns from that common race and off a competitive effort in her own right as she expects to hold her form today and the slight visual edge over #10 FOX VALLEY BUSTIER one that make a step forward with a driver change.

#5 ONE R ANDIS STAR was not at the right level for her abilities on 9/10 and should step forward here. In addition, she shares some common run lines with others in this field including ASHLEE’S LIL ANGEL and #1 SOUTH GATE SALLY.

#9 LA ROSA was much the best against the maiden group on 9/9 and should hold her form as she steps up in class, though will require another move forward if she is to win against the more established rivals.
