Del Mar Race 1

Post Time 4:00 PM CST
Analysis by Emily Gullikson

Longshot: #1 DURAN makes their first start on the DMR main track though over the dirt at a mile has recorded solid figures to fit as a contender in this group. They could be overlooked for the connections -- and from the two most recent trips noting the GATE issues along making a WIDE MOVE coming back on 7/4 at LRC was WARM on the day and following the TROUBLE_S race X_FLOW and X_WIDE to suggest they can IMPROVE off the effort and 7th place outcome. While the rider change is notable in here should also look for an additional change as front wraps added two weeks ago.

#5 COWBOY MIKE appears pointed to this spot second off claim, class relief, capable of sitting favorable tracking first run trip; #8 PIONEER PRINCE also appears well intended on the class drop, they make a belated return to the dirt, though going back to 11/2023 their lone DMR main track start and just on of two on the dirt, fits on par.

#6 KEEP MOVIN’ ON second off back to the level where they closed out 2025 with B- CLOSE needs a fair track for off the pace run, though should have a dynamic suited to their runstyle

#6 WAITING FOR YOU returns from the 5/15 common race for their second stateside start. With some class shown overseas and at the longer distance upside can be overall present. That includes from the May effort breaking SLOG making an inside/SAVED CLOSE and GALLOP+ noting the top three together at the wire and the 7th place finisher being the only horse to have run back so far won a $50k stakes race at CBY in their next start.

FTS workout analysis: JACK EM UP slower times on paper in hand while working, clear by lengths of workmate in front throughout, key drill, maintenance move wide outside of another barn pair from the gate as race day tune up, would not be surprised to see them competitive first out; LOST ANGELES turfy; FREE SOLO, slog, longer body, positive physical appearance, paddle action

#2 MUBTADAA holds current form and shorter turf sprint experience on par for this race. In terms of trip, they have shown sprint speed at times, often dependent of the break, though in live hands with j. Rosario aboard, live j/t combination all around. #1 CODE DUELLO freshened and returning with a. Ayuso to the turf at DMR from not quite an excuse through given a pass on 6/11 give the early adversity, eased up out of the race after; still class wise to be tested .

FTS workout analysis: LESS PLEASE not available; BEASTRO step slog before showing early speed, okay, could have some class weakness; LOOKS LIKE N ANGEL some gate speed, class questions; ON BROADWAY race ready; ROSA’S MIRACLE has some run, might need a race (and blinkers) can include; MANEE race ready; STRIDENT MISS have not seen much and anything recent

#4 DETAIN sits as the clear class of this field along with potential intent for DMR second off, making their local debut last month with a competitive effort under similar N2 conditions finishing in a BLANKET at the wire. Stablemate #8 MAAZ also with a strong level of class and speed figures from the sophomore season on par. Distance wise the have shown intent for longer and perhaps that is notable and to follow going forward as they return from the layoff.

7yo #9 WAR AT SEA has run some sneaky good races over the DMR turf while just hitting the board once in those four attempts. He is the type who does need things to go right to win and a legitimate longshot on that front, though a more logical underneath value key.

Del Mar Race 7

#2 CIRCUIT BREAKER appears very live showing up in this spot. Claimed out of their maiden win back in May at CD the connections waiting out their “jail time” to ship out of state raced protected on 6/20, a spot they were not intended for to compete, just get a start and wait for this spot with “ship and win” bonus in play. Speed figure wise they will need a new top, though not out of the question for a lightly raced 3yo with nothing to knock in either dirt start and even the debut at TP, a decent effort given a TRAFFIC TROUBLE WIDE trip.

#5 REDIAL could be overlooked in here while coming off the freshening for the connections though a fit with consistent in the money finishes on the year including a B OptixGRADE, a winning type effort for the level back on 5/1.

Del Mar Race 8

From a physical standpoint there is no reason to suggest #6 MR. A. P. cannot handle the turf, however there are other question marks in here all around as they return from the layoff and likely to be favored and/or ”high use” given their speed figures, the strongest in the field. #2 SECURED FREEDOM also moving to the TURF and fits their physicality where transferring form and figures moves right into contender status. Splitting these two first time turf runners SECURED FREEDOM has the edge on recency, similar class, both with speed figures on par – coming down to number could get dismissed and present an overlay and public likely taking note of Rosario to MR. A. P.

#10 ANOTHER BULLEIT returns to make their sophomore debut and a fit in this race off their juvenile form and figures while could even hold more upside with maturity. They bring in a steady series of works training going back months to prepare for this summer meet return and shipping in to work from the gate, suggests further intent.

#8 IT'S A CINCH holds figures on par and buried form to compete in this group. They come into this race off a slight freshening, have run a top off a break and at this level, while competitive in statebred company keying off that form reading between the running lines. Distance wise they could be tested at this extended sprint (6.5f) though should hold at least the ML while looking to try and carry their speed perhaps a forwardly placed track profile could be in their favor.

#12 NOVITA DOMINGA makes a belated second start and followed from the debut trip projecting to IMPROVE unable to show their best through adversity first out. While ideally it would have been preferred to have them back to the track quicker than the layoff they return from here though will note a vet scratch when entered in a 8f turf MSW race at SA on 2/28. They show a gap in the published works following that scratch appears intent with this being DMR and training progressively and consistently since late May along with J. Rosario named for J. Sadler.

By the time the finale rolls around, will have some ideal of/if any the turf course which is key in terms of #4 PENTILE BAY - a closer. Overall, as an individual fits with upside of the solid juvenile DMR turf form and second start of the year/sophomore campaign, though a closer - has had some gate issues, makes a late run and finishing in the money closing into Very Fast early race shapes.

Backing up with 4yos: #9 ULYSSES ROSE consistent speed figures, returning to maiden company and SHORTER distance; #10 JET BLACK JEWEL showed improvement race to race following the layoff and stateside debut.
