Emily's Analysis

Churchill Downs Race 1

Post Time 4:00 PM CST
Analysis by Emily Gullikson

The two R. Atras runners look live with #1 BOUNTEOUS making their second start off the claim and belated return to a two turn distance. Santana takes over today as J. Torres jumps aboard #4 PUBLICITY in for the tag for their second start and while closer to a lateral move in par from the TRAFFIC TROUBLE trip last out at HS Indy the higher purse today is a confident, intentional move.

In terms of controlling speed, #1 WUPKAR should take up that role, though there are others to keep the pace (contention) honest and concerns in WUPKAR's overall form cycle returning from a top effort (REGRESS) when live just 19-days ago and back on shorter rest in a tougher spot.

#4 COEXIST is coming off  win and claim with a rise in class. Her overall form can be spotty and inconsistent (value required) though she has win under similar conditions and this extended sprint distance.

The less "obvious" of the runners with experience, #11 KEEP IT EASY could present the edge of that group and upside (X_FLOW) from their debut just three weeks ago.

The early pace projects to be honest (Sun 41), a scenario that upgrades #1 RED HOT JEANIE in this field on pace. She presents further upside in a repeating form cycle pattern keying off the first three career starts and the peak effort "third off" the pattern in play for today's race.

#2 WENDELSSOHN did not catch a "key race" in the traditional sense though the runners from that November event all improved number wise in their next start and were competitive in similar MSW company. A similar move forward today is not out of the question as he showed early speed in a honest pace and has been given time since the debut juvenile number to move up naturally on maturity alone.

Churchill Downs Race 6

This is a tough race to find a lot of separation "on paper" with the board being key for value. #5 PURE PANIC is the lone true EP runner (OptixRPM) and fits on current form at this level from the most recent starts.

#8 SUN THUNDER has been a bit of a disappointment this year at times coming up short and lacking much improvement from his sophomore season. He should find his best chance to pick up that belated second win here given his current second off form paired with today's race shape and field.

#7 NOTHING BUT TIME debuted with a less than ideal TACTIC- trip and in TRAFFIC playing a role on the outcome. A assertive tactical change moves them up in today's race shape (Q1 Square above the ParLine) with the class change alone and presents the edge over #8 LOW KEY FLEX one that will be taken as the pacesetter from the general public.

Woodbine Race 2

Post Time 4:21 PM CST
Analysis by Emily Gullikson

With the majority of the field returning from wins and favorable trips in the process this race can produce value. The value runners exit the 5/30 common race won by #6 LOIS LEN, one that had to work HARD to get the win that day. #7 ANTIGONE was returning from the layoff and going back to last season was competitive at this level and can step up in the second start of the cycle. K. Kimura was aboard last out and going back through her form has been aboard for 7 of the career wins and even more finishing in the money.

#1 GABBY SQUARED also is a second start of the cycle, though a less traditional timing as she had raced this season in FL. She is second off on this circuit and while she can be tougher to back off the C effort on the day, she has been able to rebound from a C GRADE in the past and has back numbers and class that fit on par.

#1 KNOW HOW is worth a price play in this event and compact field. She shown up in this race on a progressive pattern for the third start off the layoff and a repeating winning pattern from last season to clear the N2 condition on 6/23.
