Emily's Analysis

Del Mar Race 1

Analysis by Emily Gullikson

#4 RUN FOR KIDDER appears well intended second off with a return to the turf at DMR. The races over this course second off support that move. With that said, this horse must run faster as on speed figures they are not out of range to win though below some others in this field. Clearly that includes #1 MCKINZIE STREET one that fits on class and speed though is doing something new with the turf sprint distance. Their runstyle from the rail should find pace contention with others (#2 LISTENUPSHANCE and #5 ALL THE GREATS) in this field taking up that role from the rail. That includes #3 ITS A CINCH the other "faster" runner in this field that has recorded their higher figure on the turf.

A similar tracking runstyle for RUN FOR KIDDER follows fellow statebred #6 TRIPLE DIAMONDS another that could suggest intent returning to the course and distance of their debut maiden win. They are drawn well though also requires a top effort.

Class and speed support the chances of #7 UNCLE DUDE returning from the layoff. The return to a shorter distance however could be a hurdle and going back to the pattern from last season used the sprint debut (GALLOP+) to improve with the added ground.

#4 MAY MAY STRONG brings in buried form and considerable class relief from the two recent starts to move up under today's conditions. They can also move up under today's change in dynamic something that would hold more confidence with slightly longer than the 5.5f at the same time not out of their capabilities.

#8 FLORIDA VACATION should hold value while returning from a legitimate EX _EXCUSE on 7/19 a trip compromised from TROUBLES+ to finish TROUBLE/NO_PUSH. Much of the trip was in part to TACTIC_ and similar TACTIC- while recorded the B- OptixGRADE making a CLOSE and GALLOP+ on 6/28. A change in rider will be made for this race with Gaskin holding success for the S. Attard barn in limited starts with 3 wins to suggest further intent off the recent trips with that change.

On class, tough to deny the edge with #7 RARIFIED and #9 LEMON SWEETS making the change to MOC $40k conditions first time from MSW company.
