Emily's Analysis

Del Mar Race 2

Post Time 4:32 PM CST
Analysis by Emily Gullikson

#1 SPEARFISH is not the most exciting or creative though logical and in this spot. They should have pace to chase (the hurdle for front running ML favorite #7 LET SEAMUS GO Sun/72 SpeedRate) a favorable dynamic for their runstyle. The connections showed intent taking the class drop under similar condition on 8/2 (WARM SPACED SLOG WIDE CLOSE) with the place finish B- OptixGRADE and number on par. That dynamic had a higher 67 SpeedRate though a Snowflake Contention.

#6 READY JET GO provides necessary price compensation while they need some racing luck especially on the win end. That is in part to their runstyle from off the pace (Q2/4) though one that fits on their best day while bringing in current form and reasonable intent. Going back in history, she started her career over this course, broke her maiden at 5f turf at SA and has won over this course and distance for the connections. Even without the win in 2023-24 still ran competitive races and figures that fit on par with today's group. Jockey K. Frey being aboard for a pair of those late season 2023 efforts jumps back up today, perhaps a positive change while also finding a change in post moving off the rail and showing run at the slightly higher $32k level with inside/SAVED TROUBLE lacking ROOM while making a CLOSE in that 5th place outcome.

Another longshot #3 CORALGABLESKAYLIN wheeling right back and form from the turf races this season. She was the lone 3yo in the field back on 7/27 recording a figures on par paired with the B- OptixGRADE. She wheeled right back for the 8/7 start around two turns (lateral par) and given an X_FLOW upgrade making a RUSH and PRESSED before losing ground into a Fast early and Fast late race shape. Jockey R. Silvera has the call, a first mount for D. O'Neill this meet but a rider quietly having a good DMR meet and perhaps even better for the bettors with a positive ROI.

In terms of ML favorite #5 ITZEL, she is find in here and would be no surprise though overall does not hold any super strong edge and given the complexion of this field likely to find pace pressure and in that case must earn the win. #2 DIAMOND BAR GAL also a fit perhaps some intent with the change in class and freshened for this meet another that is capable though still some price compensation necessary.

Del Mar Race 7

#1 MR. DISRESPECT makes sense as the favorite in this race. They bring in current form and figures with the return to allowance company allowing for the re-addition of Lasix. Their early speed with the rail should be obvious in terms of trip and change in dynamic from the recent starts find the lower Snowflake Contention paired with a moderate 22 SpeedRate.

#8 PASS THE BATON should provide value and sitting on a peak effort with some subtle changes for this second start of the meet. They stretch back out to their preferred route distance, land under similar conditions from the opening weekend sprint and find a rider change to R. Silvera as noted in prior analysis with positive ROI (15.8% win 47% ITM) from A. Cedillo - a rider at the time of this analysis winless at the DMR meet with 18% ITM (that ITM sample 3 of the 4 all runners under 7-2)
